Case Study - Elder Law - New Will and Powers of Attorney for Elderly Client

Situation:

Moores Legal was approached by a friend of an elderly man in his late 80's. He was a resident of an aged care facility and was immobile. He wanted to review his Will and Powers of Attorney but was not able to travel to our office. He had no immediate family in Australia. He wanted advice about the appointment of his executor and Enduring Power of Attorney.

Response:

A lawyer from Moores Legal visited him at his facility and provided him with advice and took instructions for the preparation of new documents. A follow up meeting was held with him at the facility so that he could sign his new Will and Powers of Attorney. Given the lack of available immediate family, detailed instructions were also taken from him regarding funeral and other arrangements in the event of death.

Outcome:

When he subsequently passed away, these instructions made the executor's job much easier and straightforward.
