Andrew Simpson (BA, LLB, LLM), advises clients on a range of Elder Law issues including:

  • Wills and estate administration (including applications for Probate)
  • Applications for Letters of Administration on intestacy
  • Powers of Attorney (Financial, Medical and Guardianship)
  • Guardianship and administration including applications to VCAT
  • Wills disputes, including defending and challenging Wills
  • Aged care advice, including review of agreements
  • Retirement village advice
  • Social security advice (particularly as it relates to gifting rules and implications for aged care)
  • Age discrimination
  • Reverse mortgages
  • Superannuation
  • Business succession planning.

Andrew also accepts appointments as attorney and executor where the preference is to take the burden from immediate family or where there is no clear choice of executor or attorney.

Andrew regularly presents seminars and workshops to accountants, financial planning organisations and community groups. He is an adjunct lecturer in estate planning at Charles Sturt University in the Masters of Financial Planning course.

Andrew is also the author of "You Can't Take It With You" published by John Wiley & Son, a practical and informative guide to estate planning for the average Australian, and a chapter on estate planning in the Australian Master Financial Planning Guide published by CCH. Andrew is a Churchill Fellow and spent time in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom examining the international approaches to Elder Law.
