Richard Hapgood (LLB, B.E.(Civil), Grad. Dip. Stuct. Eng., MBA) is a construction lawyer in the firm's Property & Construction Group. Richard brings over 30 years of consulting, construction and maintenance engineering experience to the practice. With contract negotiation experience for telecommunications and other operations contracts valued at over $600 million, hands-on facility management services for many government instrumentalities and the private sector and business management experience including ownership of service delivery and infrastructure companies, he is able to understand end user needs in most negotiations.

Richard negotiated the first "Sale of Electricity" contract with the SECV in 1990 (a precursor to the privatisation of electricity supply in Victoria) and led the negotiating teams for the purchase, importation and installation of co-generation plant and complex medical technology equipment such as the Position Emission Tomography camera and cyclotron at the Austin Hospital.

Richard practices in the area of building, technical, supply and construction contracts and disputes within all jurisdictions. This includes security of payment and domestic building contract matters. His clients include homeowners, small to large subcontractors, builders and developers.
