Stephen Winspear (BSc, LLB), has been an Accredited Specialist in Family Law since 1989, and is co-author of the fifth and sixth editions of the Family Law Practice Manual. Stephen is Chair of the Family Law Section of the Law Institute of Victoria, Deputy Chair of the Collaborative Law Section of the LIV, and is a regular speaker and writer on Family Law issues.

In addition to being an expert in Family Law, Stephen is at the forefront of the practice of Collaborative Family Law in Victoria and was one of the first solicitors in Victoria to train as a Collaborative Family Lawyer. This is a non-adversarial way of resolving Family Law disputes without court, which many people prefer over traditional processes.

Stephen has had comprehensive experience in all areas of family law including multi-million dollar property cases and parenting cases - ranging from residence disputes to kidnappings and sexual abuse cases. He also specialises in spouse maintenance, child support (including those with international problems in South-East Asia, Scandinavia, Europe and the USA), domestic violence, disputes with de facto partners, and divorce. Stephen has acted in complex and protracted cases as well as many straightforward cases, which often need as much sensitivity and care to reach a satisfactory solution.
