Stephen Winspear (BSc, LLB), has been an Accredited Specialist since 1989 of the Law Institute of Victoria in Family Law, and is co-author of the fifth and sixth editions of the Family Law Practice Manual. Stephen is Chair of the Executive of the Family Law Section of the Law Institute of Victoria, a member of the Collaborative Law Section of the LIV and is a regular speaker and writer on Family Law issues.

In addition to being an expert in Family Law Court and negotiation processes, Stephen is at the forefront of the practice of Collaborative Family Law in Victoria and was one of the first solicitors in Victoria to train as a Collaborative Family Lawyer. This is a non-adversarial way of resolving Family Law disputes without court, which many people prefer over traditional processes.

Stephen has had comprehensive experience in all areas of family law including multi-million dollar property cases and parenting cases - ranging from residence disputes to kidnappings and sexual abuse cases. He also specialises in spouse maintenance, child support (including those with international problems in the regions of Scandinavia, Europe and the USA), adoption, domestic violence, disputes with de facto partners in the Supreme and County Courts and divorce. Stephen has acted in complex and protracted cases as well as the more straightforward cases, which often need as much sensitivity and care to reach a satisfactory solution.
