Steven Sapountsis (BEc, LLB(Hons)), has extensive experience in litigation and regulatory and compliance work. He has undertaken regulatory work at high levels, including government legal policy matters and legislative interpretation and implementation.

Steven has recently been elected to the Law Institute of Victoria Council.  The Council is the governing body of Victoria's membership association for over 12,000 lawyers.  Steven hopes to asist the Council in increasing professional standards and working towards improving the reputation of the industry generally in the public arena.

Steven has previously held positions in private practice and was General Manager of the Professional Standards Department (including management of litigation) with the Law Institute of Victoria until July 2006.

Steven has handled a wide range of litigation matters and acted for plaintiffs and defendants in all jurisdictions, including: Supreme Court, Federal Court, County Court, Magistrates' Courts, VCAT and the Australian Industrial Relations Commission.
