Principal's testimonial

"As a part-time principal of Moores Legal, I enjoy the benefit of the flexible work practices which exist within the firm. I find the culture of Moores is one of support for its staff both outside and within the workplace together with encouragement to develop expertise and skills in chosen areas.

Combined with these advantages, the firm has a varied practice with many areas of expertise for both commercial and private clients. In my area of Estate Planning, Superannuation and Structuring I appreciate the support of expertise across many areas with a number of accredited specialists in different work groups."

Senior Lawyer's testimonial

"I have been working for more than 6 years in the Property Group at Moores Legal. As a Senior Lawyer and Accredited Property Law Specialist, Moores Legal is large enough to allow me to pursue my career in a specialised area of law but not too large so that it retains a friendly atmosphere. Moores Legal can pride itself on being an employer which fosters and encourages excellence in legal services in an environment which enables each employee to achieve a favourable work/life balance."

Junior Lawyer's testimonial

"I joined Moores Legal as a trainee in February 2009 and accepted an ongoing position after my admission to practice in March 2010.

As a trainee, I quickly became aware of the level of detail that had gone into structuring the traineeship program at Moores Legal.  Throughout the traineeship period, the level of training and support provided by the various workgroups and the Human Resources team was excellent.

Since my admission, I have worked primarily in the Elder Law group.  I have worked closely with my workgroup leader and other lawyers in the workgroup, gradually building up my own file load and taking on new matters to broaden my areas of expertise.  Along with the "formal" training the collegiate working environment has enabled me to hone my "soft skills", like client management and interview technique.

Beyond technical expertise, I have found Moores Legal to be a vibrant and "fun" place to work, both because of the work attitudes of individual employees and also through the various social events held both within workgroups and across the firm.  While Moores Legal is committed to growing its practice and areas of expertise, it is also committed to maintaining a friendly culture that may not usually be associated with a medium-sized law firm."

Personal Assistant's testimonial

"Once a trainee secretary, always a trainee secretary....was what I learned very quickly working at a big city law firm. I completed a secretarial traineeship at a large city law firm immediately after completing an Advanced Diploma in Business in Legal Practice at RMIT. My impression was that a large city law firm was the only way to be successful and gain experience as a legal secretary/assistant.

I have been a Commercial Litigation/Dispute Resolution legal assistant at Moores Legal for nearly six years now. I guess a large city firm wasn't for me, in summary I wanted more hands on experience and I wasn't getting that at a large firm, primarily because it is so large, you are basically seen as a typist and not an assistant.

In my first year at Moores Legal I learnt more than I did during my two years at the city firm, as there are more hands on opportunities. My daily tasks are answering phones, making appointments, dicta-typing, opening new files, company searches, online Court filing, Court document preparation, preparing briefs, liaising with clients and barristers, most of which I didn't get to do in a large firm. Now six years on, I am Personal Assistant to two lawyers and the Managing Principal of the firm. I am very grateful for the opportunity to obtain hands on experience and grow into a senior PA role within the firm.

The other primary transition that I had to adjust to coming from a large city firm to a medium-sized suburban firm was the extremely friendly and supportive environment. Plus, I could say good-bye to public transport!"

Marketing Manager's testimonial

"Having worked for a large commercial law firm, I was immediately struck by the different culture that greeted me when I started with Moores Legal. A life style balance coupled with an interest in the community and social justice issues create a unique workplace.
There is also a concern for the well-being and development of its staff and a genuine desire to assist the firm's clients.

The challenges of a practice that services private, commercial and not for profit clients is stimulating in my role as Marketing Manager and provides wonderful opportunities for the lawyers who work within the firm. It is a pleasure to work in an enjoyable and rewarding environment".

Workgroup Leader's testimonial

"I have worked with Moores Legal since late 2001. I love working in a firm that is broad enough to ensure variety in my work, but with expertise that is deep enough to deliver satisfaction to our clients. The firm's size allows me to work for large clients - but I still know all our staff by name.

Being at Moores Legal has allowed me to learn and develop as a practitioner in a culture that is friendly, values teamwork and encourages excellence. I enjoy working alongside people who are the reputed experts in their chosen field".
