Instalment warrants

Instalment warrants are an important exception to the general prohibition against superannuation funds borrowing. Using both an instalment warrant trust and an instalment contract, the trustee of a superannuation fund can fund part of the purchase of certain assets such as real estate. The loans funding the purchase are subject to specific restrictions preventing the lender from recovering from other assets in the superannuation fund.
