Child Support Trusts

Under the Income Tax (Assessment) Act it is possible in certain circumstances to transfer an income producing asset into a Child Support Trust with great tax benefits. Any income earned by the Trust can be distributed to your children to pay your child support obligations (including school fees and the like) and the income received by the children is taxed as if they are adults. Without such a trust structure almost all income received by children from their parents is taxed at the maximum tax rate.

Talk to the Moores Legal family law experts for advice as to whether you have one or more assets which can be appropriately transferred to such a trust.
